I know the 1st spring the Gaea oaks were brought out that they were so small and fragile that people were weary to take them home. I know last year we got many questions about them at HPF, people were interested in the slightly more mature tree…

Will there be more for sale this year?

There are a few still in pots over in Memorial Grove. We may want to grow them on near there. They have remained small in the pots. This is a difficulty of oaks. They are strongly tap-rooted. So, the roots reach the bottom of the pots and that is a signal to stop growing while the root tries to make its way to the ground. Sometimes roots grow out the drainage holes and enter the ground. Then, the roots must be cut or dug to move the pots. Sooo, people should probably ask again in another year.
