April 18-20, 2008

Earth Day at the Gaea Retreat Center is just days away.

We have a great line up of speakers and activities for all to get more in touch with Earth and learn about ways to lessen our impact on the land. Saturday will include a full day of activities for those who will be the next earth friendly generation, our kids.

Mail-in registration is closed at this time. We would prefer you register online, so visit our website www.campgaea.org (http://www.campgaea.org). On-line registration is the only way to pay by debit/credit card as we do not have the ability to accept debit/credit cards onsite. Online registration will be turned off at Noon, Wednesday, April 16, 2008 to allow our volunteers time to prepare and print registration information.

We welcome all to the kick off the season with a celebration sharing the warmth and energy of the Gaea Retreat Center.

Should you have any questions, please contact us here:

Just incase it's not finished by friday, Dempsey road is closed between 171th and 187th. I'd suggest mapping a new route.

These directions are for folks from Kansas City - or others that head to camp via 7 Highway from Bonner Springs -possibly those coming down 7 Highway from Leavenworth and parts farther north that do not utilize 92/Springdale Road. Since the exit from 7 Highway to 24/40 is still closed and under construction, I will suggest an alternative for those of us that follow this route should the contruction continue.

If this construction is still happening Friday and Saturday, I might suggest that it might be just as easy to follow Fairmont road straight when you would normally turn on 175th (yellow baricades is my marker) to make the little jog up to Dempsey and continuing to follow County Road 8. You can continue straight on Fairmont at the yellow barricades until you reach 195th street, which should be past the area in question, then head north (right) back up to Dempsey/8. I believe that this is a gravel road much of the way taking this route. Take a left and you are back on familiar road if this is the way you approach Gaea.

Another option for those of us arriving from the east/Kansas City area would be to exit like you are going to the Speedway to access 24/40 and follow the instructions originally posted.

Hope this helps.

ps - as posted on fog
I went up to Camp yesterday, Tuesday 4/15/08, and had to find another
way to camp. County Road 8 is closed from 175th where it makes the
turn onto Dempsey Road all the way up to 187th Street.

The easiest alternate route is to take 24 highway west about 9.5 miles
before turning right onto Laming Road then right onto County Road
5/Tonganoxie Road. Go about a mile before turning left onto County
Road 9/207th Street. After about 5 miles you'll turn left back onto
Dempsey Road and head to camp.
