That depends on what you are looking for. Elysium has nice private areas to set up camp, also the area just south of the beach is nice and easy access to the beach. Davawood is also a nice shaded camping area.

There are many good places. If you like rough necking it, we like camping down by the lake. There are cabins, but we have yet to use them. There is also electric locations as well... But the best place is up to the individuals and pending on what you want. Being your first time, I would suggest being out in the woods and away from the crowd. Our first time we hardly left the tent for we were embarrassed. :o Finally our third time we started feeling comfortable with the surroundings.

Also, I suggest going with someone you feel at one with. It helps with the whole experience. Hope you enjoy, CainO' :bestwish:

Im looking to go to Gaea for a little camping and to get to know the area. The only thing im concerned about is the person im going to go camping with. He is very conservative and opinionated. I want to camp there very badly but of course you see my problem. I think he might be able to contain himself as long as there is nothing extream going on. Ive seen it all and dont mind but I could really use a time when there isnt much going on so that my father and I can just enjoy the area. Any suggestions on when and where we can go camping at gaea.

I'd likely suggest during the week. Gaea usually gets busiest during the weekends so the weekdays there may only be a few other people on property and a good time to just get a feel for everything :)

Sorry I am late! I would agree with going during the week for if you are looking for a quiet time with little activity but if you want to go on a weekend make sure you go on a weekend that has no active events scheduled. Also for newbies and anyone looking for a quiet more private setting, I would camp on the hill in the woods on the east side of the camp. The further west you go the more activity you will find, that is if my since of direction serves me right. Like before we love camping by the lake as far west as you can go, but sometime we want to be isolated so we will go to the far east in the bush. (No pun intended.) We still have yet to try the cabins, but that is still in the middle of the action but if you want privacy, that is a good way to get it. Thank you so much, CainO'

Some people who come to Gaea don't know this and I can not find it anywhere on the website. :(

Gaea is "clothing optional", or to be UN political correct, "a nudist colony"... :)

I feel one must know this before going so that there is no shock and one isn't sent running to their car... :o
I have not seen this, but have herd of people coming to camp not knowing what is in store.

The ones that don't "approve" go causing problems.

We support Gaea 100% and enjoy going every year! We usually go on weekends when there are no events... If you are new to any "clothing optional locations", this is the time we suggest. Going during the events are fun, but sometimes can be a bit overwhelming to some people.

I always suggest building up to it, whatever "it" is... Start out small and if you like it, go for more!

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. Thank you so much, My Name Is CainO' & I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE (http://www.cainosharem.com)!

Please note that Gaea is NOT a nudist colony.

I can not stress this enough. We have an item up in the FAQ that addresses this.

http://www.campgaea.org/forums/faq.php?faq=eri#faq_eri_clothing

There are many that come to camp that do not choose to be clothing optional.

is it ok going nude at the camp gaea events ?

Cyricx

Currently, to my knowledge, no events are restricted to clothing required.

So, yes, you'll be okay. Just remember... nude.. not lewd.

Do keep in mind, if your participating in some events like the Festival of Tara, clothing of some sort would be a great idea when flinging a caber or throwing a hammer! :)

Camp Gaea FAQ page a question

is camp gaea a nudist camp ?

clothing is required in buildings

main access roads & open areas

adjacent to property fence lines

where can nudists go naked ?

are there signs pointing where ?

By open areas, we mean the areas adjacent to property lines.

Such as the road that goes from memorial grove to first field.

Pretty much any of the trails, ridge, camping areas, fields, beach, etc, are all okay.

Probably 90% of camp or more. It's really best to come out and speak with the caretakers a bit about it. It seems limiting until you come out and realize how little areas are affected. :)

Really, really wanted to go to Zenfest, but had other promises I had to keep. Hope you are able to do it again next year. :)

My question regards Laid Back. Will there be single day passes available?

Thank you

Day passes are available for laid back for $25 each.

I'm planning on attending Zenfest this year, and I'm bringing several friends. As we are from Nebraska, we would like to come down the day before it starts (Thursday 7/8/10) to ensure that we have ample time to set up our campsite and contribute to community service.

I see that camp fees are $10 per person, per night, and I'm wondering if there's a chance we could each contribute another hour to setup since we will be there so early. If not, how can we go about paying for this extra night?

Lastly, when will check-in begin for Zenfest, and when will we need to be available for set-up community service?

Not sure how to "post a new thread" so please forgive if my post isn't quite logical in its order.

Anyway, I look at the calendar and often see events abbreviated, and then click on the link but there's often no more info listed. I see why abbreviation might be necessary, and often I can google "Gaea" plus the abbreviation or the date and come up with what the abbreviation stands for, but it would help non-Gaea veterans to fill out the calendar's link to the event information at least with the full title of the event. I know "rusila the red" may not have time to fill out full info about the event, but at least the name would be helpful. Alas, many veterans of Gaea just KNOW all the events, but obviously the calendar is as much here for people who are not regulars but who may be interested.

Particularly I am wondering what "PPP" stands for, as I'd love to get another weekend in before it gets much cooler.

Thanks.

Can't wait till spring to visit.

Why wait till spring? Gaea is very relaxing and beautiful in the winter. Get a cabin, take some walks and see some of the winter beauty. I go out a least twice a month in the winter.
