Treasurer’s Report 3-3-09 by Jerry Botts, ERI Treasurer aka Gendah
Camp Gaea finances are on track to meet our expected winter budget, which covers October thru May when we have little income from camping fees or group rental. Our caretakers and board have done a great job holding down expenses, and thankfully, there have been no large unplanned expenditures. Keep us in your thoughts, and light a few extra candles to keep it that way !!
We know that everybody is struggling to cut expenses in this difficult economic time, and we had our annual budget summit in early January to plan for 2009. We’re optimistic that Camp Gaea will maintain strong support this year, and hoping that campers will see us as a perfect destination for “Staycations”. Never the less, during our budget planning, we have projected a 25% decrease in income to help offset any major economic downturn that might happen. Expenses will not realistically decline, but we are doing everything in our power to hold onto our hard earned income without shorting the much needed maintenance we are required to perform to keep the camp running. Jens Welk & Jared McDonald are busy right now preparing building materials for repairs to sections of the main stairway to keep this structure safe and viable.

As of today, we owe $121,179 on our camp mortgage, with a payoff date of June 2013. If we hold steady and work together, our camp will be debt free, and our annual expenses will drop dramatically, freeing up resources to complete many of the projects & dreams we have put on hold.
