It’s hot, it’s humid, and it’s summertime! Woo-hoo! Hello again from our little corner of camp. It’s been a busy spring and I have projects to update you on.

The totem pole project is well underway. For those of you who aren’t aware, four large trees were felled four years ago to provide four totems at the Main Fire Circle on the Ridge. After the compulsory Gaea hiccups, we found a carver, Mike Stevens, (finally – THANK YOU Mike!) and he began working on the east totem late last fall. I am happy to announce that the East totem was raised early this month. Now carving can be completed on the pole. It looks great, and I invite all of you to go check it out the next time you are here. By the end of the project, there will be a totem representing the four elements of air, fire, water and earth and a multitude of pantheons. Thanks to Mike, Jared, Jason & EJ for your help digging the hole and setting the pole. Thanks also to Jim for capturing all the Kodak moments.

The massive range hood project is finished. I must say, that the kitchen is much nicer and MUCH cooler now. It is really good to be able to cross that off the list. That was a fun victory dance. A special thanks to Rick who “just appeared” with the skills and the time to help complete the project in the crunch before Heartland Pagan Festival.

Since I seem to be on a roll thanking people….

A heartfelt thank you to all of you who go unseen, whether by your design or our oversights, which help camp. Maybe you pick up the trash can that has fallen over on the Ridge and the mess it leaves behind. Maybe you walk through the Dining Hall, realize you are the only one left and make sure to turn the lights out. Maybe you are the one who quietly leaves envelopes in Phoenix, or the person who shows up offers to help wherever you are needed. Or maybe, you are the dedicated Gaea-goer who supports Her by coming to camp, paying your camping fees, having good time and coming back again and again. Perhaps you are cabin sponsor who puts in hours of time in a labor of love for Gaea. Whichever one you are…thanks.

OK, I had better stop this train before I start thanking the Academy, the production crew and obscure family members. I’m sure there is more to report, and things we would like to communicate, but of course, that won’t come to me until I’m in the shower, after my deadline. We hope you are surviving the summer and hope to see you soon. Be sure to check our website’s announcement forum for upcoming work weekends and activities. Bright blessings!
