This year's Camp Gaea Midsummer will be a Heathen Faining, and will honor Sunna,
the Norse Goddess of the Sun, as well as our ancestors and spirits of the land.
We will gift these honored wights in the ways our ancestors did. Come join in
the celebration on June 27th at Gaea Retreat Center.

Asatru, Germanic Paganism, or heathenry goes by many names...but it is a
reconstructionist religion that attempts to discover and follow the ways of our
ancestors, based on surviving Lore, contempory historical texts, and information
gained from archeology. It tends to focus much less on magic, instead focusing
on a view of the world and a way of approaching life that is pre-Christian in
origin. For those unfamiliar or only partially familiar with heathenry, this
will be an opportunity to experience the ways of our ancestors.

We will begin the Faining with a Call to the Folk, and then call to the
creator's of men and women...Odin, Villi, and Ve. The grounds will then be
hallowed with fire, and we will speak well of Sunna and hail her gifts to us.
Those in attendance will be blessed with mead and a sun-wheel encrusted with
sacrifices will burn brightly for bright Sunna. Please feel welcome to bring
bring small items (baked goods, crafts, jewelry, etc.) of your own to be
included in this sacrifice.

The Faining begins at 7:00 PM, and will be followed by a pot-luck feast. To

nothing about Asatru, you will enjoy and get something from this experience. See
you there!
